Frequently Asked Questions

From the Zero Øut page in the Shopify App store, click on the 'Get App' link on the right hand side. On the following page (seen above) click on the blue 'Install Zero Øut' button to install Zero Øut and authorize it to access your store's product and order data.

Next, click on the 'Approve charge' button to authorize the monthly fee to use Zero Øut (see image above).

Finally, tell Zero Øut how you want to manage your products by selecting the appropriate settings in the menu shown below.

With the first setting, you indicate what you want to do with products as they go out of stock. By default, Zero Øut will hide these products.

The next setting lets you tell Zero Øut how to handle previously out-of-stock products visible once they come back into stock. By default, Zero Øut does not make newly in-stock products visible.

With the third setting, you can tell Zero Øut to redirect web traffic from your hidden and removed product pages to your shop's home page. It is recommended that you let Zero Øut do this in order to prevent your customers from seeing 'page not found' errors.

With the last setting, you can tell Zero Øut to cleanup any existing out-of-stock products from your store. This process will run in the background and is only for products currently sold out in your shop. Products that go out of stock in the future will be handled in the manner that you specified in the first section of this page.

Finally, click the 'Save Settings' button to finalize the setup. If you opted to have Zero Øut clean up your shop, you'll receive an email when the cleanup job is finished.

In your Shopify admin panel, click on the apps button in the dark gray menu bar on the left, and then click on the Zero Øut button from the list of your installed apps. You should now see the Zero Øut admin page.

With the first two settings in the settings section, you can tell Zero Øut what to do when an in-stock product goes out-of-stock, or when a previously out-of-stock product comes back in-stock.

Importantly, the third setting lets you indicate if you want Zero Øut to redirect requests to hidden or removed product pages. Zero Øut will redirect hidden or removed product page requests to your Shop's main page. If you opt to have Zero Øut not setup a redirect, your visitors will receive a 'page not found' error web they try to visit a hidden or removed product page.

The last setting lets you specify the frequency you want Zero Øut to send you updates about a change in your products' visibility.

Remember to click the save button to save your settings.

From the Zero Øut admin page, select the appropriate action under the 'Cleanup Store' section and then click the 'Start Cleanup' button.

Go to the product's configuration page in the 'Products' section of your Shopify admin panel. At the bottom of the page, select 'visible' in the Visibility setting panel and then save your changes.

Go to the product's configuration page in the 'Products' section of your Shopify admin panel. In the tags section, add one or both of the the following tags to prevent Zero Øut from either showing or hiding the product:

  • 'zero_out_no_hide' - This will prevent Zero Øut from hiding the product when its inventory drops to 0.
  • 'zero_out_no_show' - This will prevent Zero Øut from showing the product when its inventory becomes greater than 0.

When Zero Øut is paused, the application will not change a product's visibility as a result of changes in inventory.

To pause Zero Øut, select the 'paused' option in the status section of the Zero Øut admin page. After you click save, the status indicator will change to red and indicate that the app is paused.

Likewise, to unpause Zero Øut, select the 'active' option in the status section of the Zero Øut page. Click Save. Zero Øut will be active when the status indicator changes from red to green.
